Norman Adams is President of Adams Insurance, and a Certified Insurance Counselor ("CIC") and licensed Risk Manager. He has more than 40 years of experience in the insurance industry and is the second generation to operate Adams Insurance after his father, M.G. Adams.
“There is no such thing as a ‘controlled account,’ and there is no shortage of insurance agents!” If Norman had a mantra,this would probably be it. Norman has built Adams Insurance from its humble beginnings as a “mom and pop” personal lines agency by always doing more than the client expects, and never taking his clients for granted. This attitude is the basis for the reputation of service Adams Insurance has built over its 60+ years.
Norman’s energy, candor, fierce loyalty, and commitment characterize every aspect of his work and personal life, whether it is insurance, civic leadership, politics, his church, or just being a grandpa.
Norman is also a founding director of the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a founding trustee of Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse ("CALA") and has been an active force in Texas tort reform and tax relief. He has been a constant supporter of life and family causes for the last 20 years. In addition to his business and civic duties, Norman is the President of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Norman has been married to the love of his life, Debbie Sue, for more than 40 years. Their courtship began in the seventh grade when both attended Our Savior Lutheran School. Norman and Debbie have two children, Tracy Lynn and Andrew Allan. They have two grandchildren, Isabella and Benjamin, by their favorite daughter-in-law Amy. Their favorite son-in-law is Mark Dacus. Mark and Tracy were married in 2006 and currently reside in Brisbane, Australia.
John Prince is Executive Vice President and Underwriting Manager for Adams Insurance. He holds CIC, CRM, and ARM designations and is a licensed Risk Manager.
John has been an instrumental part of the Adams Insurance team since 1983 when he joined Adams from Utica National. John was born and raised in Wilmer, Texas (pop. 3,393) and received his B.B.A. with high honors from the College of Insurance in New York City (pop. 8,000,000). John is known as the “Yoda” of insurance at Adams Insurance, and our clients rely on his expertise and strong relationships with insurance carrier underwriters. John has been in their shoes and knows how they think. He routinely reminds us that it is not pretty. John has a remarkable ability to analyze agreements and manuscript coverage for our insureds. As our clients often declare, he is a Prince among men.
John moved from Wilmer to New York City in 1976 to attend school at the College of Insurance (now part of St. John's). John is fond of telling the story of his first day in Manhattan. If he had had the money for a plane ticket, he would have gone back to Wilmer. He stuck around, and Adams Insurance and our clients are better off for it.
John married his wife, Jan, in 1976 and they have two children. Josh in a member of the Missouri City Fire Department and Candice attends school at UTMB in Galveston.
Andy is Vice President and General Counsel for Adams Insurance Service and holds a J.D. from the University of Texas and a B.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas, summa cum laude.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Andy likes to say that he has worked for Adams Insurance since 1972, the year he was born! Andy joined the Adams team in his current capacity in 2002 from Bracewell & Patterson (now Bracewell & Guiliani) where he was an associate attorney in the Labor and Employment section. Andy is now the third generation of the Adams family to work at Adams Insurance. In addition to his duties as General Counsel, Andy brings a unique perspective to the service Adams provides with his background in labor and employment litigation.
Andy is active in the community and his church, Our Savior Lutheran, where he serves on several Boards and committees. In particular, he has a passion for the restoration of classical liberal arts education in elementary and secondary schools. Andy married his high-school sweetheart, Amy Barrett, in 2000. They have been blessed with two children, Isabella Marie and Benjamin Barrett.
When he is not at the office or trying to figure out how to justify another trip to Disneyworld “for the children,” Andy is a fair-weather gardener, and an avid reader of military histories (anything by Victor Davis Hanson), classical literature, movies, and comic books.
Alan is a Senior Account Executive with Adams Insurance. He is a graduate of Colorado State University and holds the Associate in Risk Management designation. Alan started in the insurance industry in 1988 with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and was a consistent sales leader during his ten years with Liberty. In 1999, Alan started Knox Insurance of Texas and concentrated his efforts on large construction and energy accounts. Alan’s experience and service-focus fit just right with Adams Insurance, and Knox of Texas joined Adams Insurance in 2003.
On the weekends, you can usually find Alan cooking burgers by the hundreds for parents at high school swim meets. He and Kim have three kids, all of whom, swam competitively. His two girls are now in college and his son will be soon. This is gives Alan great incentive to sell more insurance. Alan is not a fan of 80’s music and has a love-hate relationship with his “crackberry” smartphone.
Larry is Vice President and Bond Manager for Adams Insurance and holds a CIC designation. Larry joined the Adams team in 1987, having previously been a bond underwriter for Reliance Insurance Company. He received a B.B.A. in Finance from Texas Tech University. Larry speaks fluent CFO, CPA, and Bond Underwriter. He works closely with clients to obtain and keep bonding. Larry has helped make Adams a leading bond producer for the top bond markets.
Larry competes with Demo for the title of most knowledgeable sports fan in the office. As a Tech alum and a Houston sports fan, he is a glutton for punishment and has developed a resilient spirit. These attributes also come in handy when trying to deal with bond underwriters.
Larry has been married to Sue since 1971 and they have three children: Isaac, Zachary, and Courtney. Both Zachary and Courtney are married and Larry is always on the lookout for a future daughter-in-law.
Mike is Vice President and Risk Manager for Adams Insurance and holds CIC, CRM, and CCLA designations. He is also a licensed Risk Manager. Mike earned a Bible and Education degree from Bob Jones University.
Mike was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance for three years and CNA Insurance for sixteen years. Mike joined Adams Insurance in 1993 from CNA where he was a Claims Manager in the Houston office supervising more than 140 claims personnel. Mike brings his expertise in insurance litigation, claims management, and safety to bear on significant claims at Adams Insurance. In addition, Mike has developed an expertise in non-subscription programs for employers interested in alternatives to workers’ compensation.
Mike is a “Jack Bauer” fan. He is also a faithful Detroit Tigers fan. Mike is a lay minister at his church. Mike married his wife, Sherril, in 1974 and they have two sons, Michael and Stephen. Michael is married to daughter-in-law Bernadette and they have one daughter, Danielle.
Les is a Risk Management Consultant for Adams Insurance and holds a CPCU designation. He has over 49 years experience in the insurance business and joined the Adams team in 1992 from Liberty Mutual where he was the District Manager for Liberty’s South Texas District, headquartered in Houston. Les is our insurance “statesman” and puts his years of experience to work for Adams’ clients. Specifically, Les works with clients to improve loss control and claims management programs. There is very little that Les has not seen in his 50 years in the insurance business. We and our clients have come to rely on his expertise.
Les served in the 11th Airborne Division from 1950 to 1952. He married the love of his life, Martha, in 1958 and they have two sons, Charles and Michael. Charles is a Senior Software Engineer in Washington, D.C. and Michael is a Captain for American Airlines.
Stefanie is the Commercial Lines Manager for Adams Insurance. She holds a CISR designation and achieved her CIC designation in 2006. Stefanie joined Adams Insurance in 2001 and has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance business. Stefanie brings experience and focus to her role in managing the Commercial Lines department. She has a reputation for unparalleled service that keeps Adams head and shoulders above other agents.
Stefanie was born and raised in Houston. She has one son, Justin, and she is proud to be a volunteer mom for Justin’s many sports and school activities. Stefanie’s favorite movies include The Poseidon Adventure and Titanic. For some reason, she will not set foot on a cruise ship.
Vicki is a Commercial Lines Coordinator and holds a CISR designation. Vicki joined the Adams Insurance team in 1995 and has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance business. She brings experience and a customer-first attitude that enables AIS to get results for its commercial insureds that no other agent can.
Vicki has one son, Kenny. Kenny and Vicki are quite possibly the most lethal mother-son team in the Houston metropolitan area. Both Kenny and Vicki hold third degree black belts in Tae Kwon Do.
Vicki’s lunch has never been stolen from the office refrigerator.
Lynda is a Commercial Lines Coordinator with Adams Insurance. She joined the Adams Insurance team in 1995 and has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance business. Innovative and hard-working, the Adams Commercial Lines team competes with the best in the business and Lynda is an essential part of that team.
When she is not assisting customers and keeping Alan on his toes, Lynda enjoys playing in Texas Hold’em Poker Tournaments. She enjoys the blue water in the Caribbean and the music of George Jones.
Jennifer is a Commercial Lines Coordinator and holds a CISR designation. Jennifer joined Adams Insurance in 2004. She has made her presence felt at Adams with her “can-do” attitude and eagerness to solve problems.
Jennifer was born in Houston and raised in Humble. Her favorite movies are When Harry Met Sally and The Color Purple. If Jennifer had a theme song, it would be “A Lot of Things Different” by Kenny Chesney.
Nicole is the Personal Lines Manager for Adams Insurance Service and holds a CISR designation. She joined the Adams team in 2000 and has over ten years of experience in insurance. Nicole sets the standard for customer service at Adams Insurance and skillfully manages all personal lines.
Nicole is originally a California girl from Montclair, California and moved to Houston thirteen years ago. She married Sonny in 1998 and they have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jordan and Reagan. A Girl Scouts troop leader and grade level coordinator for her daughter’s elementary school, Nicole is dedicated to her family and community.
A child of the Eighties, Nicole’s favorite movies are Top Gun, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Pretty in Pink.
Kim is a Personal Lines Coordinator for Adams Insurance. She holds an ACSR designation. Kim has almost 20 years of experience in the insurance business. Kim joined the Adams team in 2006 and has been a great addition to the Personal Lines team. Kim brings a considerable amount of expertise and a service-focused attitude that puts Adams customers first.
Kim was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and she has two wonderful children, Brian and Tori. Kim is a dedicated Houston Astros baseball fan and he favorite movie is Something’s Gotta Give.
Jim is the Claims Manager for Adams Insurance and coordinates claims reporting between our clients and carriers. Jim joined Adams Insurance in 1986 and has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. Jim focuses on our insureds’ claims and helps to prevent underwriting problems by making suggestions concerning loss control and prevention.
Jim hails from Merrill, Wisconsin and he is the biggest Packer fan in the office. Jim is also the only Packer fan in the office. Jim married the love of his life, Rosie, in 1969. They have one daughter, Jennifer, and she is a News Producer for FOX Channel 7 in Austin.
