Our Story
Norman likes to remind us that there is no shortage of insurance agents! That’s why we have to provide service that exceeds the customer’s expectations AND deliver a better price. In other words, we have to do things a bit differently from your standard alphabet house insurance broker.

Difference #1 – Our sales team is our service team.
Most insurance brokers employ an army of individual solicitors with their own separate account teams. It is an “eat what you kill” environment, and as a result the solicitor has to constantly bring in new business. Once he or she does that, the account is handed off to the account team and the solicitor is on to the next new account. Who holds the account team responsible for the promises made by the solicitor when the deal is sold? Good question. Who holds the carrier responsible for delivering what was sold? Another good question. At our shop, the folks selling the deal are the same people servicing the deal. The chain of accountability is never broken.
Difference #2 – We are referral-based, not solicitor-based.
We are not segregated into producer groups because we aren't dependent on a constant stream of solicitors generating quotes. We are referral-based working on accounts recommended by our current customers. Accordingly, we are dependent on our customers for leads. As you can imagine, that means we have to keep our customers pretty happy.
Difference #3 – We keep our customers.
15 and 20-year accounts are typical in our office. We have accounts that pre-date the disco era and the leisure suit. We are so proud and blessed to have this kind of customer loyalty. We think it is proof that we are doing something right. One of the keys to that longevity is the tenure of our service team.
Difference #4 – Our staff tenure and experience.
Our staff has an average of 22 years in the insurance industry and 14 years at Adams Insurance Service! We put that experience to work on every account and it is the reason we have remained competitive with the biggest brokers in the industry.
Difference #5 – Our coverage expertise.
With that experience and training comes coverage expertise. Do you have the coverage you think you have? Do you have the coverage you need? Coverage forms are increasingly complex and narrow. You need a coverage expert to make sure you have what you think you have. Our coverage analysis is unmatched by our competitors.
Difference #6 – We are independent.
Since 1947, we have never merged or sold out to any national broker. We are not for sale. You don’t have to go very far to reach the final authority on any problem (yes, we sometimes have problems, how about you?) in our office. His office is about 63 feet from the front door and within shouting range of the entire office.
Difference #7 – We are family-owned and operated.
Maurice Griffin Adams started Adams Insurance Service in 1947 in a one room office on North Shepherd. Norman joined the firm in 1964 expanded the little “mom and pop” shop into a full service broker offering commercial lines and personal lines coverages. Norman’s son, Andy, joined the firm in 2002 making Adams Insurance a third-generation family owned business. The name on the door is not just a “brand,” it is our name. With every proposal, renewal, claim, or quote, our name is at stake.
