Adams Insurance Service was founded in 1947 by Maurice Griffin Adams, known locally as "M.G." In a one room office on North Shepherd, M.G. served his family, friends, and neighbors with dedication and commitment offering "Complete Coverage" for "Health and Accident, Hospitalization, Life, Automobile, Liability, and Fire" as the sign that hung over his office front door advertised to everyone who passed. Adams Insurance Service was truly a "personal" agency with personalized service. Indeed, every renewal was delivered in person!  Integrity, loyalty, service, and wisdom were never common virtues, even in those days, but M.G. was determined to live up to them and pass them on to his son, Norman.

In January of 1964, Norman joined the firm and began learning the business of "customer service" under M.G.'s direction. Adams Insurance was still a true "Mom and Pop" shop with Dorothy Adams, M.G.'s wife, performing all the typing, accounting, and office duties.

Today, Norman continues the tradition.  Norman’s son, Andrew (“Andy”) joined the firm in 2002 making Adams Insurance a third generation company.  Integrity, loyalty, service, and wisdom—these are the principles we strive to keep with every policy written, claim filed, and counsel offered.  For 60 years, we have been blessed with clients that cherish those principles. We like to think our clients see those principles reflected in their insurance agent.

In this era of broker consolidation and turbulent insurance markets, these principles have allowed us to remain independent and kept us competitive with the biggest brokers in the industry.  As Norman repeatedly reminds us, “there is no shortage of insurance agents, and there is no such thing as a controlled account.”  Amen.  We never take a renewal for granted!

We are unique among most insurance agents in that we employ no solicitors.  Our new business comes almost exclusively from client referrals. That means our sales team is our service team.  This makes us accountable to our clients in a way few insurance agents are because the same people service the deal that was sold.        

Finally, our people make us unique.  No insurance policy or product can ever deliver integrity, loyalty, service, and wisdom.  As far as we can tell, neither can voicemail.  With an average of 26 years in the insurance business and 13 years with the agency , our team is one of the most experienced in the business.  We have a “family” Agency in every sense.  You can read more about them all here.  At the center of that family is Norman E.
