If the schedule holds, 1 WTC will surpass the Empire State Building's 1,250 feet with the addition of the first column of the 100th floor of the new skyscraper. The building will top out at 1,368 feet, the same height of the first 1 WTC and its twin 2 WTC, destroyed on 9-11. Walmart becomes nonsubscriber in Texas
The largest employer in the United States has just become the largest nonsubscriber in Texas. What is a nonsubscriber? Texas and New Jersey are the only two states in the union (I bet that is about all we have in common) that allow employers to opt out of workers' compensation. That may seem pretty irresponsible to the uninformed because the employer loses his sole remedy protection from claims by injured workers. Read more
